MOVIE SHOW (GATE OF NINE DRAGONS : SEARCHING FOR KUNG FU)

Secretary for Justice Paul Lam Ting-kwok, at the invitation of Priscilla Leung Mei-fun, attended a film screening over the weekend with his wife and ethnic minority friends from five countries. They watched “Gate of Nine Dragons – Searching for Kung Fu”, supporting the shared goal of encouraging foreigners to tell good stories of China.

The film was directed by American filmmaker Laurence Brahm, whom Priscilla Leung has known since her time at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Laurence spent 30 years exploring the true essence of Chinese kung fu. Inspired by Bruce Lee, he began learning martial arts and Chinese kung fu during his university years and spent five years producing this film.

The screening event was organized by the Hong Kong Association for External Friendship and invited Hongkongers of diverse ethnic backgrounds including from Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan to enjoy the film together.

Also in attendance were Ms. Kwok Wong Wing Kei from the Chief Executive’s Office, Dr. Eugene Chan and others. The event was sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and the Secretary for Justice happily took photos with children from minority communities.

Priscilla Leung expressed her strong support for the film, noting that it is very suitable for local youth and non-Chinese-speaking students.
